The Lagos State Neighbourhood Safety Agency (LNSA) has reportedly arrested about 130 suspected hoodlums during a 2 a.m raid in Victoria Island, Lekki-Ajah and parts of the Coastal road.
This information was revealed in statement on Friday by the LNSA General Manager, Ifalade Oyekan, who led the operation. He added that the suspects were presented to the Lagos State Residents Registration Agency (LASSRA) team attached to the LNSA, after they were screened.
According to the General Manager, the early morning operation was as a result of series of reports of criminal activities focused on motorists, especially during periods of traffic congestion, therefore, the operation was targeted at identifying and profiling the suspects, while those found culpable would be prosecuted.
He reiterated the agency’s commitment to protecting lives and property, ensuring free movement for residents and motorists, asserting that the operation formed part of the LNSA’s broader community policing strategy, involving residents and other security agencies.
The exercise was also backed by the Kick Against Indiscipline (KAI) and an armed detachment of the Nigeria Police Force, both of which the General Manager commended. “I commend the supporting agencies for their professionalism and coordination during the operation,” Oyekan said.
He appreciated the state governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the deputy, governor, Obafemi Hamzat as well as the commissioner for special duties, Gbenga Oyerinde, stating that their unyielding support had tightened security operations across the state.
