The Lagos Waste Management Authority, LAWMA under the Project WISE team has sealed warehouses along Ijesha Bus Stop, as well as market stalls along the Cele Under Bridge corridor for repeated environmental sanitation violations, during an enforcement operation on Thursday, 30th July.
The sealed warehouses and stalls are a result of the collaboration between LAWMA Officials, KAI Corps and the Nigeria Police Force.
The sealed warehouses, Oluremi Tinubu Warehouse and Anambra Warehouse particularly and market stalls along the Cele Under Bridge corridor were found to repeatedly commit environmental offences including illegal waste dumping on road medians and highways, making the enforcement unavoidable.
According to the agency’s X handle, the sealed establishments will remain sealed until all environmental sanitation obligations are met.
The agency also took to its X handle to reiterate that illegal waste disposal is a sanctionable offence, urging residents, businesses, markets, and commercial establishments to dispose waste throufh appropriate channels alone and maintain clean surroundings.
