Authorities in Lagos Island East Local Council Development Area (LCDA) has intensified efforts to improve security with a coordinated operation, targeting locations suspected of criminal hideouts and black spots, with particular focus on the Sura underbridge area.
The operation, carried out on Wednesday, July 29, was led by the Supervisor for Works, Hon. Saheed Olawale Oshoja, acting on the directive of the council’s Executive Chairman, Hon. Mayor Muibi Alade Folawiyo.
Officials say the exercise is part of a broader security and environmental strategy to keep the council area safe for residents, businesses and visitors.
During the exercise, officials inspected and cleared locations suspected of serving as hideouts for criminal activities. Abandoned structures and other areas considered capable of providing shelter for criminal elements were also identified for further attention.
The council described the move as a signal that it will not tolerate criminal activity within its jurisdiction.
Folawiyo said the administration remains committed to working with security agencies and other stakeholders to sustain law and order in the area and maintain environmental sanitation across the LCDA.
Residents were also urged to remain vigilant and support security agencies by providing credible information and continue cooperating with local government efforts to strengthen safety across Lagos Island East.
