Lagos State AIDS Control Agency (LSACA) unveils three-year HIV strategic plan

The Lagos State AIDS Control Agency (LSACA) has unveiled a three year HIV strategic plan spanning from 2025-2027, calling for more effective stakeholder collaboration, planned resource coordination and evidence-based implementation to hasten progress towards achieving the state’s targets. ‎‎

The call was made by the Chief Executive Officer of the Lagos State AIDS Control Agency, Dr. Folakemi Animashaun, during the dissemination of the Lagos State Strategic Plan on HIV 2025–2027, held at BWC Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos.‎‎

She announced that the plan provides a structure for positioning HIV programmes, resources and partnerships towards specified targets and measurable results across the State, particularly with the significant progress recorded in the state’s HIV response through the expansion of prevention, HIV testing, treatment and community-based interventions.‎‎

She added that huge gaps are still in place despite the progress attained and require sustained attention, essentially towards underserved populations to strengthen HIV prevention and testing. ‎This will ensure early access to treatment, improving retention in care and achieving viral suppression.‎‎

Dr. Animashaun explained that the Strategic Plan, which covers the period 2025–2027, comes at a point when implementation is already well underway across the State.‎‎

The event, according to her presents an opportunity for stakeholders to record progress, highlight gaps in the project, tighten alignment and focus collaborative efforts towards gaining outstanding success before the stated time elapses.

‎‎Dr. Animashaun reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to promoting the state’s HIV response, acknowledging the leadership of the National Agency for the Control of AIDS (NACA) while commending ministries, departments, agencies and other stakeholders for their contributions to the project.‎‎

She also advised stakeholders to use the engagement to develop a shared understanding of current progress and point out aspects where better impact could be attained while utilizing resources at hand. ‎
