‎‎The repairs of the Kara bridge, which had earlier been announced by the Federal Government are set to begin on Tuesday, September 8th. ‎‎
Following this announcement, the Lagos State Government, through a signed statement by the Lagos State Commissioner for Transportation, Mr. Oluwaseun Osiyemi has advised motorists and road users traversing the the bridge on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway to plan their journeys ahead. ‎‎
It was also revealed that there will be an interswitch of road usage, with one half of the affected area closed at a time, and the other, open for motorists to use. This precaution is to ensure traffic management. ‎‎
“To minimise its impact on traffic, one half of the affected section will be closed at a time, while motorists share the other open half interchangeably,” it stated.
The statement also added that the government has appealed to all motorists remain patient and work with traffic managers, to ensure the rehabilitation is completed in the two weeks scheduled ‎
