LASPA Begins Enforcement of 2026 Parking Permit Regulations

The Lagos State Parking Authority (LASPA) has commenced enforcement of its 2026 parking permit regulations, following the expiration of an extended grace period given to operators to regularise their permits.

General Manager Adebisi Adelabu announced the move in a statement issued on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, noting that the authority had grown increasingly concerned that many registered operators still hadn’t secured their 2026 permits despite demand notices, repeated reminders, and direct outreach.

She said the enforcement was aimed at strengthening compliance with approved parking regulations, improving accountability and raising the standard of parking management across Lagos.

“Valid parking permits and accurate customer records are essential to enable LASPA to effectively plan, monitor, regulate, and manage parking infrastructure and services across the state,” she said.

Adelabu warned that operators who had failed to regularise their status would face substantial fines and immediate suspension of their operations if found to be in default.

Even with enforcement underway, Adelabu said LASPA staff are still on hand to help operators complete the process, including support with the authority’s online registration and payment platforms.

She encouraged those who haven’t yet regularized their permits to do so promptly to avoid penalties. She also appealed to the public to cooperate with enforcement officers on the ground and to flag any unauthorized parking activity to the authority.

Adelabu stressed that the crackdown isn’t meant to punish operators, but to restore order and accountability to Lagos’s parking system as part of a longer-term effort to build a more efficient and sustainable parking network for residents, businesses, and visitors alike.
